R/P claimed that Child # 1 (C1) disclosed that staff threw C1’s food in the trash and made C1 wash the toilet.
During the course of investigation, the LPA interviewed sixteen (16) staff members including the staff from the infant/toddler, preschool, and school age programs, and one Adult (A1). Eight (8) older preschool children, including C1, were interviewed, and 10 random parents were contacted. Relevant documentation related to the allegations was also reviewed.
Regarding the allegation of "staff hit day care children"
During interviews with sixteen (16) staff members including the staff from the infant/toddler, preschool, and school age programs, and one Adult (A1), the LPA was told that they had not witnessed and instances of staff hitting children. Staff stated that such behavior would not be tolerated and, and if proven, it would result in immediate termination. They reported that staff and management are consistently monitoring the facility, and no such incidents were brought up to the management’s attention. Staff stated they walk around the facility and have not observed that type of behavior from any staff. There are eyes everywhere. They said they are kind to children, and they have not witnessed staff dragging any children to the bathroom to hit them. During the course of interviews with 8 preschool children, including C1, no children disclosed to LPA that staff have ever hurt them. Children stated they go to bathroom and the staff stand at the door to supervise them. Children stated staff talk to them if they do anything wrong. Out of 10 random parents contacted, one parent responded with no concerns regarding this allegation.
Regarding the allegation of "staff handle day care children in a rough manner"
During interviews with sixteen (16) staff members including the staff from the infant/toddler, preschool, and school age programs, and one Adult (A1), the LPA was told that the management are constantly in and out of the classrooms and walking through the hallway. Classrooms are open and staffs' behavior are observed consistently. Staff denied witnessing any staff member handling children roughly and treat children in a mean way. They stated children are taught manners to clean after themselves such as going to the bathroom, flushing the toilet, washing hands, throwing their food plate in the trash after they were done. One staff member stated they are nice to children, and they give children hugs but they have been told not to
