32 | During the course of investigation, LPA interviewed 8 staff members, 4 children and 4 parents, and reviewed records.
Regarding allegations Staff handled child in a rough manner.
LPA interviewed 8 staff members, 8 out of 8 staff stated they have not witnessed a facility staff handle a child in a rough manner. S3 stated, every child is different, We give re-direction. We guide them to sit by saying "time to sit down or find a chair". They become teacher’s helper and we talk about rules too. S6 stated, staff talk to the children and let them know that hurts their friends. We find out what's wrong. Staff usually will give them something to play with or use. S8 stated, staff re-direct children when a child doesn’t want to be with circle time or wants to use a toy. The Montessori way is that the children bring a mat, and work on there; staff observe the child and work with them. We re-direct them, and keep them engaged in their work. Montessori has independence work, and more choices. Each child has their own space.
LPA Duron interviewed 4 children. All 4 interviewed children did not disclose any staff violating their rights.
LPA Duron interviewed 4 parents. All interviewed parents stated they did not have any concern with facility.
Based on the information gathered from LPAs’ interviews, observation, and the reviewing of records, there is insufficient evidence to corroborate the allegation: Facility staff handled child in a rough manner. Although the allegations may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the allegation did or did not occur in the day care facility, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED.
