On 12/03/2024 at 9:00AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Karen Navar conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for the purpose of the facility's request for an age change for the preschoolers from 2-5 years old to 2-6 years old. LPA met with Site Supervisor Claire Shepherd who led LPA on tour of the facility. LPA then met with Kenya Meneses at 9:30AM. Census was taken there was 8 infants with 4 staff members and 44 preschool age children with 6 staff members.

A review of the Facility Personnel Report Summary on this date indicates all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Classrooms are adequately equipped with age and size appropriate furniture and equipment. During inspection LPA was given a tour of classrooms and preschool playground. LPA observed children playing on playgrounds and involved in classroom activities. LPA observed playground equipment and playground sticker states that equipment is for ages 2-5 years old. Drinking water is available indoors/outdoors by children’s personalized water bottles/ cups or drinking fountain and is refilled as needed. Sign in/Sign out procedure is electronically and done through the ProCare App and was reviewed and meets regulation requirements. There is a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher that meet statutory requirements. Cubbies are available for storage of individual child’s personal belongings and/or bedding. Children sleep on cots and bedding is washed by the facility weekly or as needed.
