Low feeding chairs and tables have broad-based legs, wood seats are in good repair and but there are no trays that lock onto chairs. Low feeding chairs are made of washable, moisture-resistant material. Changing tables have at least 1” padding covered with moisture-resistant, washable material. Sides of the changing table are at least 3” high and the changing table is within arm’s reach of a sink. Diapering sink is not used for meal preparation or dishwashing. Crib area is separated from activity space via wood pony wall and made of sound absorbing material. This barrier is not at least four feet high and does not allow for supervision of napping children. Licensee will send photos of corrected barrier that meet infant regulations. LPA provided copy of Infant sleep equipment regulations CCR 101439.1. Licensee also plans to use Montessori beds and will submit a waiver. Sleep logs are kept in the crib area. Infant Needs and Services Plans and Sleep Plans will be kept in the infant activity area.
The infant outside activity space measurements is 2,688 square feet which is sufficient for the requested infant capacity. The toddler playground space measured 12,507 square feet which is also sufficient for the requested capacity. The preschool playground which measured 9,074.52 during prelicensing visit on 08/03/2020 will continue to be shared between preschool and school age children. An updated shared playground waiver request will be submitted. The playground is enclosed by a cinderblock wall and iron wrought fencing that is over 4 feet high. A portion of the infant playground is covered with cement. Water is provided via filtered water dispensers and children’s water bottles. Shade is provided via trees. LPA informed Licensee that additional shade for infants will be needed and photos of corrections will be sent.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1597.16. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP.).
