13 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kimberly Lyman conducted an unannounced complaint visit to deliver findings on the above allegation. LPA was greeted and granted entry into the facility and explained the reason for the visit.
During the course of the investigation, LPA toured the facility, interviewed staff and witness as well as reviewed and obtained pertinent documentation such as durable power of attorney and physician report. Regarding the allegation that staff do not ensure that resident is protected from financial abuse while in care, the investigation revealed the following: Resident 1 was enrolled in hospice care without authorization from responsible party. Per witness, the change to hospice had the potential to terminate part of the resident's insurance thus affecting payment for facility services. Facility indicates receiving no indication of termination of insurance and states that payment through insurance is pending with insurance company. Resident receives social security insurance as well as partial payment through Cal-Optima. Facility denies any financial abuse towards resident, intentional or otherwise. Based on interviews conducted, the allegation is deemed UNFOUNDED, CONTINUED ON LIC 9099C DATED 12/13/23 |
