25 | At 2:45pm on 8/29/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with facility representative Christina Thomas for the purpose of an unannounced annual random inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed a census of 10 children consisting of 1 infant, 6 preschool children, and 3 school aged children supervised by Thomas and a second adult assistant. The licensee was away from the home during the visit.
Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility, and a health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include garage, master bedroom/bath, and hall bathroom. Facility representative acknowledged that children must never enter these areas. LPA observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Per facility representative, there are no weapons or poisons in the home. A swimming pool is properly barricaded with 5ft fence that does not obstruct view and features a self-latching gate that opens outward. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children, and fireplace is barricaded to prevent access by children. There are no stairs in the home. Outdoor play space is fenced.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA reviewed 10 children’s files and observed them to be complete. A current roster is being maintained and fire and disaster drills are documented. Current CPR and First Aid certification was verified for licensee and expires 4/2025, and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training was verified for the icensee and expires 3/2026. All staff present were in compliance with AB1207 Mandated Reporter training requirements, and at least one had a valid CPR and First Aid certification. Report continues LIC809-C
