25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) Jeremey McClain and Katrina Owens met with facility representative Tara Rozak for an unannounced required annual random inspection.
LPAs observed care and supervision of 65 preschool children by 17 staff.
LPAs inspected all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service, and outdoor play areas. Hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in operable and safe condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts, and adequate cushioning was observed in areas underneath climbing equipment. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The food preparation space is free of litter and all food was protected against contamination. Storage containers with solid waste have tight-fitting covers in each classroom. Medications are stored in a central location and the required documentation was observed. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector.
Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided by the facility. LPA observed posted menus showing planned meals at least one week in advance. Noncontaminated Drinking water is readily available to children both indoors and outdoors.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPAs verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. The facility will need to rest again after by 12/2027. The facility currently utilizes and electronic sign in and out sheet. LPAs reviewed records for all present staff. |
