25 | At 1:35pm on 8/6/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with licensee Amy Arant for the purpose of an unannounced required annual inspection. Upon arrival, LPA observed a total census of 10 children consisting of 4 school aged children and 6 preschool children. Licensee states no others are present in the home today except for their husband, minor son, and assistant.
Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility, and a health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include Master Bed/Bath, sons' rooms, basement, back deck, and garage/shed. Licensee acknowledged that children must never enter these areas. LPA observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. LPA observed firearm weapons to be properly stored according to regulation, with firearms and ammunition locked separately. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Stairs and fireplace are fenced to prevent access by children. Outdoor play space is fenced.
Upon inspecting the outdoor play yard, LPA observed two plastic wading pools. One contained water at least 2" deep, and the other contained water up to 4" deep. At the time of LPA's observation, all the children and care providers were inside the home.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
