25 | At 9:00am on 5/1/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Gallo met with Licensee Jennifer Molini for the purpose of an unannounced required 1-year inspection. Licensee states no others are present in the home today except for their adult daughter, who was present for the inspection. Today's census included 2 preschool children.
Licensee guided LPA on a tour of the facility, and a health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include front yard, outdoor sheds, all bedrooms, master bedroom hallway, and bathroom at the end of the master bedroom hallway. Licensee acknowledged that children must never enter these areas. LPA observed the required postings, a working phone, 2A10BC fire extinguisher, and functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Per Licensee, there are no weapons in the home and toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. There is a wood burning stove in the living room that Licensee does not use during day care hours, and understands they cannot use during day care hours unless it is properly barricaded. Licensee will reach out to licensing if they intend to use stove with child care children present. Safe and age appropriate toys were observed. Outdoor play space is fenced.
There is an irrigation canal along the street in the front of the yard that is under the control of the Placer County Water Authority. Licensee has an easement to access the driveway. A pool in the backyard has a fence that is 5 feet tall, does not obstruct view, and features a gate that swings outward and has a self-closing mechanism. Upon further inspection, LPA observed that the self-locking mechanism that holds the gate closed was not engaged, and determined the cause to be the locking mechanism no longer having the lubrication needed to automatically catch and hold the gate latch. Therefore, at the time of inspection, the gate was not locked and the pool was accessible to children. Licensee fixed the issue with LPA present, who observed that the locking mechanism now automatically latches when the gate swings back. Report continues on 809-C |
