32 | Applicant stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. LPA observed a functional carbon monoxide detector each classroom. Applicant stated they will be utilizing a paper sign in/out system. Applicant stated water will be provided via bottled water. Water fountains are located in the classroom and on the playground. Facility has a designated space in the classroom for isolation in the event a child becomes sick while in care.
Per Health and Safety Code1596.806 Exemption from square footage, toilet, isolation space, outdoor activity space, and fencing requirements, LPA did not measure the indoor and outdoor activity space.
Per the Applicant, the facility will utilize the outdoor activity space and the school’s restrooms. Facility submitted a certification statement signed by the superintendent that the classroom building is of sufficient size to accommodate public instruction.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
The facility will use one playground area and the black top located on the school campus outdoor play area. The playground was free of hazards including, but not limited to, holes, broken glass and other debris, and dry grasses that pose a fire hazard. The areas around and under high climbing equipment, swings, slides and other similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs falls. The area includes a space for shade.
Facility is exempt from testing water from lead, as the building was constructed after 2010. LPA referred applicant to the Department website for lead: Lead Toxicity Prevention and Water Testing Information.
Applicant was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
