25 | On March 21, 2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Amber Shaw, Sumayya Habeebulla, and Kelli Waters, conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection, in regard to Assembly Bill 2370, requiring all licensed Child Care Centers constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water for lead between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first lead testing.
LPA met with Iris Hughes, who stated that that drinking water is available throughout the facility via a dispenser which is located in all the classroom. The director confirmed that the water faucets available at the facility were not in use by the children even though they were available on the school premises. The director stated that staff would use a water pitcher using the filtered water to refill the children's water bottles throughout the day for indoor and outdoor use.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Iris Hughes, Site Director.
A NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS ISSUED AND LPA VERIFIED THAT IT WAS POSTED IN A PROMINENT LOCATION AT THE FACILITY BEFORE LEAVING. THE LICENSEE UNDERSTANDS THAT IT MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR THE NEXT 30 DAYS.
