On 04/26/2022 at time listed above Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Justin Giese made an unannounced visit to the facility for the purpose of concluding a complaint investigation. LPA met with Director, Karen Brazzill regarding the above allegations, which were received on March 23rd, 2022.

The following was alleged: Staff are not following the terms of the license and Staff do not timely feed the daycare children

It was alleged that the facility combines children ages 2 to 5 and that “babies” have been mixed with the 2’s classroom. LPA was unable to obtain any further information regarding when the allegation occurred, the frequency or parties involved.

LPA reviewed facility records and interviewed the Director and facility staff directly involved in the operations and supervision of children enrolled in the Facility’s preschool program. The facility operates under an approved “commingling” waiver issued by the Licensing office allowing daycare children ages 2 to Kindergarten as well as School Aged children to be commingled and occupy the same classroom space the first hour and last hour of business hours. Outside of the time period granted in the waiver, day care children are to be physically separated from other programs offered in the facility.

LPA recorded conflicting information from individuals interviewed from what is being alleged. Statements made deny that “babies” have ever been mixed with other age groups outside of their respected “infant” classroom. Staff acknowledge the ability to commingle day care and school age children at specific times of the day. LPA made direct observations on unannounced visits to the facility on 04/01/2022, 04/12/2022 and 04/14/2022 for other purposes. During these visits LPA toured all functioning areas of the facility and did not observe children commingled outside of their perspective age groups or programs.

It was alleged that staff do not timely feed the daycare children. LPA was unable to obtain any further information regarding when the allegation occurred, the frequency or parties involved.

LPA recorded conflicting information from individuals interviewed from what is being alleged. It was stated by the Director and Staff that lunch is always provided timely to children in care. Staff and Director stated that lunch is served from 11:30am to 12:30pm. LPA was able to corroborate this information by reviewing the Facility’s parent handbook which states that “lunch will be provided between 11:30am and 12:30pm”, as well as directly observing the preparation of food for children at the time subsequent visits to the facility were made.
Therefore, due to conflicting information found throughout this investigation this agency has investigated the complaint alleging Staff are not following the terms of the license and Staff do not timely feed the daycare children. Although the allegations may have happened, or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED.

THE DIRECTOR UNDERSTANDS THAT IT MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR THE NEXT 30 DAYS. An exit interview was conducted, A copy of this report and appeal rights were given to the Director during this inspection on 04/26/2022.
