25 | On 02/26/2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gabriela Hernandez and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Pauline Beschorner arrived at the facility to follow up on previous pre-licensing inspection conducted on 11/20/2024.
On the inspection conducted on 11/20/2024, LPA observed several issues regarding the pool, such as pool fence was less than 60 inches tall, the gate door was not self- latching or self closing, the distance between the poles was greater than 4 inches. Applicant stated that would modify the existing fence to assure compliance.
During today's inspection, the following was observed: The wrought iron fence is approximately 64 inches tall; there was extension of the fence built to ensure it is at least 5 ft tall. The extension was added to the existing wrought iron fence, Applicant added 2 horizontal bars across the entire pool fence. The horizontal bars that were added is a hazard and can be used as a climbing mechanism for children in care. Licensee was instructed to replace horizontal bars with vertical bars. LPA measured the clearance from the ground to the bottom of the enclosure, the clearance was over 2 inches, which does not meet regulation. LPA verified the gaps between the bars are no wider than four inches, and the gate/door is self latching/closing, also opens way from the pool. LPA verified the pool alarm is in working condition; however Applicant was not able to provide documentation verifying it meets ASTM International Standard F2286. LPA verified there is no direct access to the pool from the home. LPA verified applicant has life ring measuring at least 17 inches in diameter and is approved by the U. S. Coast Guard. The rescue pole observed did not have a fixed length of 12 ft., the pole measured approximately 8 ft and it was adjustable. Applicant was instructed to obtain a new pole that meets regulations.
LPA informed the applicant that a daily pool inspection log is required to ensure all safety measures are in place before the facility opens. This log must be available for the department upon request.
