25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Kyrsten Williams and Soleil Marx met with Facility Representative, Director Meghan Mara for an unannounced annual inspection of this preschool facility. Census included 23 children in care with 4 staff. Facility is operating within the capacity and in compliance with staff child ratio on this day. Licensee was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. Facility hours of operation are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in the classrooms, restrooms, food service areas, and outdoor play areas. LPAs observed the following documents are posted: License, Emergency Disaster Plan, Personal Rights, Parents' Rights Poster, menus, and daily schedule. Cleaning disinfectants and hazardous items are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Medications are stored, inaccessible to children. Director stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, and toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. Bins for solid waste have tight fitting lids. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. The facility provides morning and afternoon snack. The food preparation space is free of litter and all food was protected against contamination. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors via drinking fountains and labeled bottles. LPAs observed a functional carbon monoxide detector, first aid kit, and working telephone. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. LPAs observed rice sand cushioning beneath the play structure. Outdoor shade is provided by trees and awnings.
Children’s and staffs' files were reviewed. Each child's file had the required licensing documentation. LPAs reviewed staff transcripts and observed all staff caring for children were qualified. Multiple staff have a current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification. Staff all have current Mandated Reporter certificates and proof of immunization.
