25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kelly Ferrara met with Director Joyce Campbell for an unannounced annual inspection on August 12th, 2021. At 9 AM, LPA toured the facility including all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service and outdoor play areas. Census included 20 preschool children being supervised by five staff. Appropriate ratio and care and supervision were observed during today's inspection. Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. Facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:15 AM to 6 PM.
Classrooms all appeared clean including the carpets and floor. Chemicals were kept inaccessible to children on a high shelf. Playground equipment and surfaces were inspected and are in good condition with enough resilient material under climbing structures to absorb a fall. Uncontaminated drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Bathrooms were clean and all sinks and toilets were in operating condition. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises and the facility has at least one functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detector. The children bring their own snacks and lunches from home and the facility has food available as a back up. LPA observed all required licensing documentation was posted for parental review. LPA observed that parents are signing their children in and out of the center electronically. LPA discussed current Covid guidelines with the Director.
At 9:40 AM, a sample of children and staff files were reviewed. Each child's file had the required licensing documentation. Each staff file contained current Mandated Reporter certificates and proof of immunizations. LPA reviewed transcripts and observed that all staff being utilized as teachers were qualified. At least one staff had a current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification that expires in June 2023. The facility has First Aid equipment available. LPA observed a current children's roster and fire drill log.
