Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Karyn Guerra and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jennie Tedlos met with Acting Director, Suzana Cervantes, and District Leader, Melanie DeMarchi for the purpose of an informal office visit.

Today's informal meeting was to discuss the Type A and B citations issued on the facility’s Preschool License (#343615313) from 03/27/2024-06/12/2024 during Complaint and Case Management Inspections.

On 03/27/24, the facility was cited a Type B citation regarding Childcare Center Directors Qualifications.
On 03/27/24, the facility was cited a Type B citation regarding Personnel Records.
On 04/05/24, the facility was cited a Type A citation regarding Indoor Activity Space for School-Age Children On 04/05/24, the facility was cited a Type A citation regarding Teacher-Child Ratio.
On 04/05/24, the facility was cited a Type A citation regarding Teacher Qualifications and Duties.
On 05/17/24, the facility was cited a Type B citation regarding Personal Rights.
On 06/12/24, the facility was cited a Type A citation regarding Personal Rights.

The Acting Director and District Leader state that they have taken the following steps to maintain compliance:

1. Overstaffing to maintain ratio.
2. Obtaining Teach Stone Certificates for Teacher Qualifications and utilizing other accredited and approved colleges and courses.
3. Changing the Preschool License to include Kindergarten aged children.
4. Reporting Unusual Incident to the Officer of the Day.
5. Reviewing and Updating Staff Files.
6. Staff trainings every month.
7. Creating spaces in the classes to support children's emotional needs.
8. Utilizing Inclusion Services.
9. Utilizing intercoms and walkie talkies to communicate with staff within the facility.

LPA and LPM reviewed accredited and approved colleges and courses, staff qualifications, and director qualifications and exceptions. LPM also discussed fire clearances and facility program changes. LPM discussed reporting requirements, and support and resources with families and children. LPM and LPA provided information regarding the Technical Support Program (TSP), which is a non-enforcement arm of the Community Care Licensing Division offering onsite support to licensees and providers. LPA will follow-up with the facility for TSP services. LPA discussed using the Department website (ccld.ca.gov) for child care updates, legislation, forms and regulation information.
