On May 11, 2023 at 12:45 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tanya Washington met with Licensee Marshella Ryan for an unannounced random annual inspection and toured areas of the home accessible to children in care. Off-limit areas include kitchen, master bedroom/bathroom (last room in the hallway on the left, near the children's bathroom), Licensee's older daughter's room (last room in the hallway on the right) and garage. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. Licensee stated that the main area for care is the living room and currently she does not have any children who nap in the bedrooms, however if needed the two other bedrooms are available. During today's inspection LPA observed two preschool aged children napping on cots in the living room area. Licensee stated there are no new residents in the home since licensure. All Adult residents have criminal record clearances. Licensee's hours of operation are Monday- Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA observed current CPR/First Aid certificate which expires 5/31/2023, Licensee was reminded to the renew the certification at the end of the month. LPA discussed recent changes in licensing requirements, including the posting of licensing inspection notices and reports and Parent Notification Requirements. LPA reviewed three children’s files, all required information was in the files. LPA observed fire drills were conducted at least once every six months and documented.
