On Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 10:50 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Tanya Washington and Jeremey McClain conducted an unannounced Required 1 year annual inspection and met with Licensee, Taisiia "Taya" Handziuk. Upon arrival nine preschool age children were in care of Licensee and two assistants. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The off-limit areas include: garage, backyard and back portion of the home. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. Licensee stated there are no new residents in the home since licensure.

LPA observed current CPR/First Aid certificates which expire in 10/2022. LPAs reviewed six children’s files who were in care during today's inspection. LPAs observed that there were no hazardous items accessible to children. LPAs observed that the fireplace in the playroom is properly barricaded and Licensee stated that she does not use it during day care hours. LPAs observed that cleaning materials were inaccessible. Fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector meet regulation. Toys appear to be safe. The Licensee utilizes her fully fenced front yard for outdoor play. LPA discussed current COVID guidelines with Licensee. There are no bodies of water on the premises.

LPA observed a current fire drill log and children’s roster. LPA observed required AB1207 Mandated Reporter Training for Licensee, expiring 10/2023.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
