25 | On 09/09/2025, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Soleil Marx and Erwina Pascual-Golamco, met with Licensee, Ernestina (Lucy) Kurpiewski, for the purpose of conducting an unannounced annual inspection. During the inspection, LPAs observed a census of seven children in care being supervised by the licensee and assistant. Ages of children were verified during file review to ensure ratio/capacity were adhered to. Facilities hours of operation are Monday through Friday 07:15 AM to 05:30 PM.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in the areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include: two bedrooms, garage, and the fenced off area in the backyard. LPAs observed a working telephone, first aid supplies, functioning smoke/carbon monoxide detector, and a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher within the home. LPAs observed home appeared safe, sanitary, and orderly. LPAs observed that hazardous items such as cleaning solutions, medication, sharp utensils, and other items that could pose a danger to children in care, are inaccessible to children in out of reach areas. LPAs observed a variety of age-appropriate toys, equipment, and materials available to children both indoors and outdoors. LPAs observed personal right and supervision requirements being met. Licensee stated there are no poisons, firearms, or bodies of water on the premises. Licensee understands that if there are any poisons in the home, all poisons must be locked with a key lock or combination lock.
LPAs reviewed records for the facility, Licensee/assistant, and children. LPAs observed all required postings were posted/visible to parent/guardians. LPAs observed a children's roster maintained and a fire drill log with drills being conducted/documented at least every 6 months; last drill conducted 08/2025. LPAs reviewed children’s files and verified all files contained the required licensing forms. LPAs reviewed records of Licensee/assistant and verified files were complete with licensing forms/documentation. Licensee has current approved pediatric CPR/First Aid training expiring 11/2027 and Mandated Reporter Training expiring 07/2027. Licensee understands CPR and mandated reporter training must be completed every two years.
