13 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Javier Prieto arrived to the facility to conduct a complaint investigation regarding allegations that the facility doors are too heavy for residents in wheel chairs to open and exit at will and sinks are not wheelchair accessible. LPA Prieto met with Executive Director Cynthia Figueroa, toured facility and interviewed residents in question (R1 & R 2). Facility doors, in question, are fire doors that have been installed since the facility was built in 2020. Wheelchair resident (R2) states that the doors exiting the facility courtyard are heavy cannot open easily, but has used the use of a call pendant for assistance in exiting the courtyard without further inconvenience. Resident room doors are equipped with the same fire doors, but door closers can be adjusted for easier opening and closing. Facility is also equipped with automatic doors at the entrance to the facility. The facility does have wheelchair accessible sinks, limited to the memory care section at the facility. R1 stated there is and for the use of a wheelchair when using the bathroom sink. R1 inspected the room prior to admission, but now has concerns for a wheelchair accessible sink that R1 states was addressed with the Executive Director, whom R1 states is accommodating to their needs. Executive Director states the concerns have been heard by Corporate and have made plans to make the necessary renovations abiding by building code. |
