The purpose of the visit was to conduct an unannounced Annual/Random inspection of the facility. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection to the licensee and toured the facility. LPA observed licensee and assistant providing care and supervision to three infants, nine preschool-age children, and one school-age child. The current hours and days of operation are 23 hours/7 days a week. LPA informed licensee that licensee must stay awake during all hours children are awake.
Physical Plant: This is a three-story home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, playroom, attached garage, and backyard. The off-limit areas are the entire third floor, the outdoor decks, and the garage. All stairs in the home are inaccessible via child safety gates.
Indoor/Children’s Area: LPA inspected the indoor/children’s area for safety, cleanliness and good repair. Per licensee, main care is provided in the playroom, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom (entry level). Licensee provides children with cribs and cots for napping. LPA tested the carbon monoxide and smoke alarm to be in operable condition. Per licensee, there is no smoking in the home. Per LPA observation, fireplace is barricaded. LPA observed fire extinguisher (2A10BC), fully green. Cleaning compounds stored in high cabinets, made inaccessible to children. Per licensee, there is one firearm on the premises. LPA verified that the ammunition was stored and locked separately from the firearm.
