32 | LPA Hogue interviewed Assistant Director Ruth DeAnda. According to Assistant Director, on or about September 8, 2022, a child(ren) was sent home early after having more than one diarrhea accident. Per Assistant Director, it is KinderCare’s policy, to send a child home, if a diarrhea accident is coming out on the sides of a child(ren)’s diaper. According to Assistant Director, staff member(s) are required to change a diaper every two hours and check a child(ren)'s diaper every hour. Interview with Assistant Director disclosed that staff member(s) should document diaper checks and diaper changes on Diaper Log and KinderCare app. Per Assistant Director, staff member(s) should document when a child(ren) has a diaper rash and/or when diaper cream is applied.
Further interviews conducted by LPA Hogue disclosed, that staff members are required to check diapers every hour and change a wet, dry, or soiled diaper every two hours or as needed. Interviews disclosed that some staff member(s) will document when a child(ren)'s diaper is checked and does not require a diaper change.
Throughout the investigation, LPA Hogue reviewed facility records, specifically paper and KinderCare app Diaper Logs. After reviewing Diaper Logs, during the week of September 6, 2022 to September 8, 2022, a child(ren)’s diaper was not changed between the hours of 11:00am to 2:45pm which left a child(ren) in a wet or soiled diaper for more than two hours.
