On 11/21/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Isabel Ortega met with Enedina Mendiola, Teacher and conducted an Annual Random Inspection. LPA toured and inspected the facility in accordance with the facility sketch. During inspection LPA observed 16 children in care and three Staff providing care and supervision. Facility operates in two classrooms referred to as the Cubs and the Explorers Preschool, serving ages 3 years to 5-year-olds.

Facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Facility provides a schedule for meals: breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. The Parents bring children breakfast and lunch, and facility provides children with two snacks.
An isolation area was inspected, which takes place in the main office. Children have the option for rest time and quiet time if needed. Age-appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability and good repair. During inspection one sink in the Girls restroom was not working. According to Staff repairs for the sink will be completed during Thanksgiving break next week. Each restroom has adequate toilet paper, hand soap and paper towels available. Restrooms are cleaned, restocked of toiletries by staff as needed the on-site custodian disinfection and sanitizing daily.

According to Staff, there are no bodies of water on the premises. LPA did not observe any bodies of water during this inspection. According to Staff there are no weapons nor guns at the facility. LPA did not observe any weapons or guns at the facility during inspection.

The furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting, and AC ventilation were evaluated. LPA observed individual storage for children's belongings with names labeled. Facility sampled water for lead, according to facility Staff children are provided with individual disposable water bottles which are refilled with filtered waiter from a pitcher. The facility provides individual disposable cups as needed.

Facility has all the required posted documents: Facility License, Notice of Parent's Rights Poster, Emergency Disaster Plan, Car seat information, and Earthquake Preparedness Checklist.

The facility has a First Aid kit supply with a thermometer in the main office and according to Staff director will be informed add a First Aid Kit in each classroom and take during outdoor play. The smoke detectors, carbon monoxide were observed to be operating properly. The fire extinguisher (2A10BC) is reading in green and meets the Fire Marshal codes and standards. The Fire extinguisher was last serviced on 4/16/2024 (LPA observed a white tag with date hole punched).

Trash cans with tight lids were observed. Snacks were inspected, and it was properly labeled, stored, and within expiration date. Cleaning supplies are out of reach of children.

Emergency Drills are conducted every sixth month last drill was conducted on 11/08/2024 at 09:30 a.m. (A technical violation was issued all drills shall be documents and available for review). Food allergies are noted and are posted in the snack area and in each classroom as needed. The snack menu is posted in the main office and parents may request a tangible copy per request.

The outdoor play area was inspected and observed to be free of hazards, loose, or sharp objects. Equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair.

Children's records were reviewed for completeness. Health History, Emergency contact and Medical Exams; Immunization Records are all in the children's file. According to facility a facility roster id being updated, and all staff have been fingerprinted and association to the designated license number.

Staff are currently certified in Heartsaver CPR/First Aid, AED Program which does not expire until 8/13/2026. Facility was made aware this certification is not the required Pediatric required for Childcare Program (a technical violation was issued). Facility will need to take the correct Pediatric or EMSA approved CPR/First Aid. Childcare Provider Mandated Reporter (AB1207) training certificate is dated 8/30/2023.

The following Incidental Medical Services (IMS) were discussed.

All staff are required to take the Childcare Provider Mandated Reporter (AB1207) training every 2 years. www.mandatedreporterca.com.

Upon hired date all staff are required to be immunized and show proof of immunization records according to Title 22 regulations.

Beginning on January 1, 2018, Assembly Bill 1207 (2015) requires all licensed providers, applicants, directors and employees to complete training as specified on their mandated reporter duties and to renew their training every two years. New employees shall have 90 days from date of employment to complete training as required. The training may be conducted at the following website www.mandatedreporterca.com.



According to facility documentation all staff are aware they are mandated child abuse reporters and have the responsibility of reporting any suspected child abuse to the Child Abuse Hot line at (800) 540-4000.

Per Title 22 Regulations facility is complying with rules and regulation, and no deficiencies will be issued today. Technical violations were given today as a form of presentation. An exit Interview was conducted with Teacher, Enedina Mendiola.

A copy of this Report, a Notice of Site Visit and appeal rights were provided on this day. A copy of this report must be made available to the public for 3 years.
