On August 17, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Kuliema Calloway made an unannounced inspection to the Kids and Care Preschool and Child Care Center. The purpose of the inspection was to deliver findings for the above allegation. LPA met with the Site Director (S1) who granted access. LPA observed 8 infants in active play outside and 2 staff in care.

On 7/20/2023, LPA arrived at the above facility and observed the wall thermometer reading eighty-six degrees. S1 informed LPA the building air conditioning unit was inoperable for at least two weeks. During the inspection, LPA observed three (3) of the classrooms with portable AC units reading eighty-one degrees. The outside temperature was at a recorded one hundred six degrees during the time of the visit. During the investigation, LPA conducted interviews with staff, parents, and all parties involved. Based on interviews and observation the temperature inside the facility was not comfortable for the well-being of children, employees, and visitors.

Per Title 22 Regulations, Division 12, Chapter 1, there is one (1) Type B deficiency cited during this visit: 101238(a) for Building and Grounds as there was a potential health, safety, or personal rights risks to the persons in care.

Exit interview was conducted and a copy of this report was read, Notice of Site Visit and Appeals Rights were discussed and provided to Luz Marisol Valenzuela, Site Director. A Notice of Site visit shall be posted and must remain posted for thirty (30) consecutive days. Failure to maintain posting is subject to a $100 civil penalty.
