Per Facility Director, Tammy Esquivel, the office is used as an isolation area for children who become ill while in care. The facility maintains a comfortable temperature at all times, first aid supplies (first aid manual/guide, bandages, scissors, tweezers), sign in/out sheets available and completed daily. Smoking is prohibited on the premises, no prohibited child care items observed. Firearms/weapons are not allowed or stored on premises.
Outdoor: The facility has playground areas for the preschool children The play areas are made of sand and concrete. Outdoor play equipment was inspected for health, safety, good repair, and age appropriateness. The area was observed to be free of debris, free from hazard, holes, broken items, debris. Sands that could absorb a fall surrounds the play equipment (swing sets and slides). LPA also observed bicycle paths in the play area. Per Facility Director, children bring their own water bottles during outdoor plays. A water container is also available during outdoor plays.
LPA and the Facility Director toured the center Preschool with toddler component, TK classrooms and outdoor play areas. The center has a swimming pool on site that is not used for daycare purposes. LPA observed the pool is empty and it has a net. LPA observed a mesh gate around the pool that contains a self-closing, self-latching mechanism that meets the requirements of HSC section 1596.814(b), a life ring with a diameter of at least 17 inches with a United States Coast Guard approval label and a rescue pole with a body hook that is at least 12 feet long. The rescue pole is a fixed length and is not adjustable. LPA observed the gate is locked.
Teacher child ratios were observed, and staff name recorded. Care and supervision was evaluated to determine if the basic needs of children are met and appropriate.
Health Related Services: Children are inspected when they arrived at the center. Per Facility Director, the preschool does not provides prescription medications to the current children enrolled in the facility.
The Facility Director also stated that they were not providing transportation to preschool children.
Food Service: The facility has menu posted on the parent board. The facility provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
Staff/Personnel Records: Designation of Responsibility observed, immunization's, TB clearance, health screening, criminal record statement, statement acknowledging requirement to report suspected child abuse. Three of the six staff members have current pediatric CPR/First Aid training. Staff members have current mandated reporter training.
