25 | On 3/24/23 at 1:40pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility to conduct a case management inspection for the purpose of a capacity increase and room change. Upon arrival, LPA met with Director, Kendra Dedmon and Assistant Director, Marcella Zavala and was led on a tour the facility. There were 49 children and seven (7) staff members present. The licensee is requesting a capacity increase to 83 preschool children, age 2–5 years in the Preschool 1 (currently licensed for School Age), Preschool 2, Pre-K and 2’s classrooms. Licensee plans to surrender the School Age license April 14, 2023, to accommodate the preschool capacity increase and room change. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 6:00am - 6:00pm.
Classrooms were inspected and measured a total of 3396.98 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 97 children, however licensee is only requesting a capacity of 83 children. Classrooms are equipped with appropriate furniture, cots for napping, tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves and other materials for children. The facility has a total of nine (9) working toilets with one (1) non-working toilet (director stated maintenance will repair the non-working toilet) and 12 sinks exclusive for the children's use, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity.
The outdoor activity spaces were inspected and measured a total of 7413.01 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 98 children, however licensee is only requesting a capacity of 83 children.
A fire clearance for 83 preschool children; age 2–5 years was granted 2/17/23.
The following is required:
1. Licensee stated they will surrender the school age license to the SDRO by April 14, 2023
No deficiencies were cited. Exit interview conduct with Assistant Director, Marcella Zavala. A capacity increase to 83 children and room change may be granted after the school age license is surrendered to the SDRO and a final file review is conducted. Notice of Site Visit shall be posted for 30 days from today's date. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. |
