25 | On November 9, 2022 at 11:15 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Andrea Taylor, conducted a Case Management visit in response to information received from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Division of Drinking Water (DDW). LPA Taylor met with Jordan Jackson, Assistant Site Director who was informed of the reason for the visit.
Assembly Bill 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, added Health and Safety Code section 1597.16 requiring all licensed Child Care Centers constructed before January 1, 2010, test their water for lead between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first lead testing.
During the visit, LPA Taylor toured the facility and observed the food preparation sink identified as having high levels of lead. The sink is located in the kitchen of the church. The Assistant Director told LPA that the sink is not used for the preschool and the preschool has it's own kitchen and sinks. The sink was immediately turned off and placed out of service until the plumber changed the fixture.
Interviews with staff revealed the sink is only used by the church never by the preschool and is not part of the licensed preschool. LPA Taylor confirmed the sink is in the church not the preschool. LPA observed the sink during inspection and on the facility sketch. The sink was mistakenly tested along with the preschool fixtures.
An exit interview was conducted with the Assistant Director. A copy of this report, appeal rights and a Notice of Site Visit was issued. |
