25 | On 04/08/2025 at 9:00AM, Licensing Program Analyst, Hanna Lucas, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of annual inspection. LPA was greeted by a teacher, Laura Graham, who explained that the Director, Alicia Torres, was on her way to the facility. Assistant Director, Merle Rodriguez, also greeted LPA, and stated that she is on site for opening and closing, as the Director hours are from mid-morning to midafternoon. There were 37 children present with 6 teachers in 3 rooms. Facility is within ratio and capacity.
LPA toured the facility with the Director. The rooms were clean and in a comfortable temperature during the visit. Adequate ventilation and heating are available. All required forms were posted on the wall of the entrance walkway. The furniture, books, games, and toys are safe, and age appropriate. The lower and upper playground is fully fenced with age-appropriate play equipment. Drinking water is available at all times, as staff ensures that each child has their own personal water bottle. The water bottles are refilled by a filter system located on the kitchen sink. Children are evaluated upon entry and monitored throughout the day for signs of illness. The isolation area for ill children varies on the time of day. If on the playground, the lunch tables are used, and if in the classroom, an area of the classroom is used, for children awaiting pick up.
The children’s lunches are stored in their individual lunch boxes, which are kept in the outside cubbies. The facility does not provide snack or lunch, but if a child forgets to bring food, a packaged snack is available. There is no expired or contaminated food present in the kitchen. The food has been stored separately from any chemicals or cleaning products. Napping/bedding equipment is stored separately from the children’s play area. Each child has their own cot and blankets. Blankets are labeled, and are washed by the facility every Tuesday and Wednesday. Cots are sanitized after each use. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary, and operating condition.
