Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Saraliz Velando, made an unannounced 10-day initial visit to deliver the findings of a complaint investigation initiated on 2/29/24. LPA Velando toured the home and there were 6 children in care. The Department investigated the allegation that Licensee did not ensure that a firearm was properly stored. Interviews were conducted with licensee, law enforcement, and pertinent legal documentation was also reviewed. The day of the incident on 10/11/23, there was an unsecured and loaded firearm discovered in an off-limits area. While there were no children present at the time of discovery, there were at least 2 children in care earlier that day and it is unclear how long the loaded firearm was there. Based on the information received by the department, the licensee did not comply with Title 22 regulation section 102417(g)(4)(A) Operation of a Family Child Care Home. Type A Violation was cited. Refer to the next page LIC 809-D for deficiency citation. Per Chapter 3, Division 12, Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations, upon receipt, licensee shall post and provide copies of this licensing report to parents/guardians of children in care at the facility and to parents/guardians of children newly enrolled at the facility during the next 12 months. A copy of the Fact Sheet - AB 633 Child Care Parent Notification Requirements and a copy of LIC 9224 was given to licensee.Facility was provided a copy of the appeal rights. The exit interview was conducted, and report was reviewed with licensee, Gabriela Barbosa De Araujo. A notice of site visit was posted and shall remain for 30 days.
