25 | On 4/8/25 at 9:20am Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Annette Sutherland conducted an unannounced pre-licensing site visit for a capacity increase; this visit is to verify that the licensee remains in substantial compliance with the health & safety standards as required by regulations governing family childcare homes. LPA met with licensee Zul Qaida Akbari, also present was adult daughter Hena that helped translate to Dari. Licensee's 2 minor children were also present. Licensee has all appropriate forms posted. LPA confirmed with licensee that all adults residing/working in the home have criminal record/TB clearances. Licensee has obtained landlord consent to care for 14 children. The home appears to be large enough to comfortably accommodate 14 children. Fire clearance was approved on 3/26/25. First Aid and CPR certifications expire on 6/7/25, Licensee is reminded that CPR must be taken every 2 years. Children’s records were reviewed and found to be in order. Licensee is reminded that fire/emergency drills must be done and documented every 6 months.
These 2 story, home was toured, the following areas are used for daycare. Entire first floor and patio. Off limit areas include Garage on first floor and entire 2nd floor. Stairs are barricaded.
Drawers and lower cabinets in kitchen/bathroom are either latched or do not contain any hazardous items. There is an operational smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher maintained in the home. There are no firearms present on the premises as stated by licensee. Furthermore, there is a pool in the complex and is properly fenced. The outdoor play area is a fenced patio, which is free of hazards. Per licensee, operating hours are from 10:30 am - 9:00 pm, Monday thru Thursday.
LPA reviewed the following: required departmental documents, regulation highlights, community resources, capacity limitations, supervision, clearances, emergency drills, heat-related illness, child passenger law, unusual incidents, mandated reporting, Assembly Bill 633, SIDS, Safe sleep regulations, Shaken Baby Syndrome, Megan's law. Applicant is reminded that corporal punishment, smoking, walkers, exersaucers, jumpers and bouncy seats shall never be permitted during daycare operation. |
