25 | On 10/09/23 at 10:01am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA), Samantha Clenista and Patrick Ma conducted an announced Pre-licensing follow-up inspection. Upon arrival, LPAs met with Facility Representatives, Lona Seitz (Children’s Paradise COO), Diane Prospero (Children’s Paradise Director of Child Development) and newly assigned center director, Vanessa Sanchez.
LPAs took a tour of the facility per facility sketch. The initial pre-licensing inspection was conducted on 09/19/23. Purpose of this visit is to follow-up on the corrections that were needed to be corrected prior to licensure. The following were the listed corrections that LPA noted during 09/19/23 inspection:
- Set up both Room 3 and 4 with the appropriate designated crib area (area must meet 4ft. high and of sound absorbing material for barrier)
- Post required postings
- Remove the second changing table that is located in the children’s bathroom, or move it so that it is within arm’s reach of a sink
- Remove or make any hazardous plants and wooden planks inaccessible that is currently located out on the side playground area
- Submit an updated indoor and outdoor facility sketch
- Place signs on staff restroom.
During the initial pre-licensing inspection, the designated infant rooms were not fully set up yet. There was no designated infant crib area per regulation, so no measurements were taken. Since the initial inspection, the facility has created a separate crib area located in Room 3. Area was observed to be separated via 4ft. barrier, however no gate to enter. LPAs observed a total of 3 cribs. Facility representatives stated they understand that they should only enroll/have infants that the cribs can accommodate for. LPAs advised that if a child can climb out of a crib, that child should be placed on a mat or cot. |
