25 | On 08/4/2023 at 10:00am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Adrian Castellon and Amber Hopkins conducted an unannounced required 1 year inspection and met with lead teacher Karla Gomez. LPAs disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was led on a tour of the facility. This is an AM and PM half-day program which operates on a year round school year schedule. Days and hours of operation are Monday – Friday 7:45am – 10:45am and 11:45am to 2:45pm. Upon arrival, there were twelve (12) children with lead teacher Karla Gomez and instructional assistant Mayra Ramirez.
Furniture and equipment in classroom are in good condition. Playground is located directly outside the classroom. Playground equipment is in safe condition. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. The area under high-climbing equipment and slides has rubber cushioning to absorb falls. Toilet and hand-washing equipment are in safe and sanitary operating condition. There are sufficient operating two toilets and two sinks located in the classroom for the licensed capacity. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. Waste storage containers are in good repair. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors via drinking fountains and personal water bottles. Facility has a functioning carbon monoxide detector. The last fire drill was conducted and documented 7/2023. Teacher stated there are no bodies of water on the premises and LPA did not observe any bodies of water. Teacher stated there are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other hazardous items are made inaccessible behind locked cabinets. Teacher stated medications are stored in the classroom and being administered at this time. Staff have fingerprint and background clearances through the Chula Vista Office of Education. Teacher was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. |
