25 | On 03/16/2023 at 3:10 PM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Dana Stevens conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with licensee Bertha Salcedo. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility. Three daycare children were present at the time of the inspection, ages 5, 5 and 6 years. Licensee accompanied LPA throughout the inspection of this 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom home. The following areas are used for child care: Daycare room (converted garage) and Daycare bathroom. Off-limits areas are the remainder of the house. These areas are made inaccessible with a door locks and door knob covers. The back yard patio is used for outdoor activities, licensee stated total supervision is provided. There is one crib or play yard for each infant who is unable to climb out of the crib or play yard. Cribs or play yards are free from all loose articles and objects. The provider physically checks on sleeping infants every 15 minutes. An Individual Infant Sleeping Plan [LIC 9227 (3/20)] is maintained for each infant up to 12 months of age. The provider places infants up to 12 months of age on their backs for sleeping.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. A review of records on this date indicates that all individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee's First Aid and CPR certifications expire 02/2025. Licensee's assistant's CPR certification expires 08/2024. Licensee completed Mandated Reporter 06/2022. Licensee's assistant completed Mandated Reporter 07/2022. Facility roster and children and personnel files were reviewed and found complete. The last Fire Drill was conducted on 12/08/2022.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. |
