25 | On 4/7/2025, at 09:35 A.M, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Jacqueline Macias and Adrian Castellon conducted an unannounced annual random inspection. LPAs met with Licensee, Janelle Gonya and discussed the purpose of the inspection. Also present was Licensee’s Assistant, Lamont Phillips. There were eight (8) daycare children present. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7am- 5pm.
LPAs accompanied by licensee toured the indoor and outdoor of the home. This is a single level four (4) bedroom, two (2) bathroom home. The following areas are used for daycare: living room, dining room, kitchen, sunroom (daycare activities only), bathroom (hallway), and fully fenced front and side yard. Off-limits areas include the backyard, the side yard on the right side of home, garage, and bedrooms #’s 1-4. Licensee is reminded that per the fire clearance granted on 9/17/2024, the sunroom cannot be used as a sleeping room for daycare children. Off limit areas are made inaccessible to children by door locks, safety gates and fencing. Licensee is reminded that children should always be supervised during outdoor activities.
LPAs advised the Licensee that prior to making alterations or additions to the home or grounds, the Licensee shall notify the Department of the proposed change. Licensee updated the facility sketch during time of inspection.
The fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors meet requirements and are operational. All poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other hazardous items in the home are made inaccessible to children through latches, locks, and/or placed on high surfaces. Licensee has children's toys, play equipment and books available. Licensee has a working cell phone. Licensee stated there are no firearms, other weapons, or ammunition in the home.
