25 | On 10/18/2024, at 1:45pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Vicky Williamson and Jacqueline Macias conducted an unannounced annual random inspection. LPAs met with Licensee, Rose Dorvilus. There were seven (7) children present, one of whom is under 24 months and is licensee's own child. Also present was Licensee Assistant, Viola Joseph. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Sunday, 23 hrs per day.
LPAs accompanied by licensee toured the inside and outside of the home. This facility is a two story, seven (7) bedroom, 4 bathroom home. The following areas used for child care are: kitchen, living room, dining room, room #2 (daycare room), bathroom #1, bathroom #2, portion of cover backyard leading from the daycare room. Off limits areas are the entire upstairs which includes bedrooms #1, #3, #4, #5, bathrooms #3, #4), downstairs bedrooms #6 and #7, laundry room, the big room (leading from the dining area), portion of backyard where pool is located and side yard (leading from laundry room), and garage. They are made inaccessible through use of door locks, fencing and safety gate. Licensee was reminded when children under 5 years of age are present the stairway must be barricaded. Licensee stated that the backyard leading from the daycare room is used for outdoor activities. Licensee was reminded that there must always be direct supervision of the children while outdoors. Licensee stated that she understood.
LPA advised the Licensee that prior to making alterations or additions to the home or grounds, the Licensee shall notify the Department of the proposed change.
The fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors meet requirements and are operational. All poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other hazardous items in the home are made inaccessible to children through latches, locks, and/or placed on high surfaces. Licensee has children's toys, play equipment and books available. Licensee has a home phone and a working cell phone. The fireplace in the home is properly barricaded.
