25 | On 03/21/2023 at 12:01pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Selina Siao and Samantha Clinesta conducted a case management for the purpose of capacity decrease as facility has applied for a school age license. Upon arrival, LPAs Siao and Clinesta met with Director Leslie Scheck and conducted a census count of the children in care. There are 72 children in care supervised by 16 staff members in 8 classrooms. The children were also observed in the upstairs multipurpose room (Beit Midrash) for PE due to the rain. Director stated that the facility has been using that room as a large motor area on raining days. Appropriate ratios were observed, and all staff members have the required background clearances and are associated to the facility. The facility currently operates Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
This facility is currently licensed for 145 children ages 18 months to Kindergarten along with having up to 12 school age children in rooms #3 to #11. Facility has a toddler option to care for up to 12 toddlers (ages 18-36 months) in room #2. Licensee representative submitted an application to the department to increase the toddler option to 26 toddlers by adding classrooms #3 and 4. Also facility has requested to have up 99 preschool age children ages 2-5 in classrooms #5-11.
The toddler rooms #2-4 were previously measured at 1594.57 square feet, which is more than sufficient to accommodate up to 26 children. The preschool rooms #5-11 were previously measured to be 3485.18 square feet, which is sufficient for up to 99 children. The rooms are equipped with age appropriate equipment, furniture, supplies and materials. There are a total of 12 sinks and 10 toilets available for preschool and toddlers. Drinking water is available for the children in and outside the classroom. The children has there own water bottles while they are inside and outside.
Children are to be escorted and supervised by staff to and from the restrooms. Direct visual observation is required when children are in care. |
