On 5/17/2023, at 8:40 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Vicky Williamson conducted an unannounced complaint inspection for the purpose of delivering findings regarding the above allegation. LPA met with Director, Kaite Stanglewicz. During the inspection there were 22 children present with eight (8) staff members.

During the course of the investigation, interviews were conducted with the director, staff members and daycare parents. Parent Handbook and documentation from the Brightwheel App were also reviewed. It was alleged that facility staff withheld food from daycare children. Director and staff members denied withholding food from any daycare children. Director stated that daycare children bring their own snacks and lunch from home; however sugary sweets are not allowed at the facility. On or about 2/16/2023, director and staff acknowledged that a sugary sweet was removed from a daycare child’s (C 1) lunch box. Director and staff stated that the authorized representative for C1 was notified regarding the sugary snack being removed from C1’s lunch box.

Director stated that daycare parents are advised not to bring sugary snacks during the beginning of the school year and reminded throughout the year on the Brightwheel App.

Based on conflicting information obtained and no collaborating evidence to support the allegation. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is determined to be unsubstantiated.

No deficiencies cited. A copy of this report along with Appeals Rights were provided. A notice of site visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. An exit interview was conducted with Director, Katie Stanglewicz.
