25 | On 7/18/23 at 11:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility to conduct a pre-licensing inspection. LPA met with facility representative, Hope Michel and Director, Ruth Alcantara and was led on a tour the facility. Applicant is requesting a capacity of 20 infant children (age 0-24 months). Applicant’s planned hours of operation are Monday - Friday 7:00am – 6:00pm.
The indoor space measured a total of 1077.86 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 30 children, however applicant is only requesting a capacity of 20 children. Classrooms are equipped with age appropriate furniture and equipment including cribs, cots, tables, chairs, cubbies and other materials for children. There are three (3) toilets and four (4) sinks available for use children's use. Drinking water is available outdoors and indoors via water pitchers and sippy cups. There is a separate restroom for staff located in the office. The director’s office and staff restroom will be utilized for isolation for children who may become ill. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are kept in an inaccessible cabinet in the kitchen. The kitchen includes one (1) sink, one (1) refrigerator, one (1) microwave, one (1) dish washer and storage space. Facility provides meals and snacks. The facility utilizes manual sign in and sign out sheets. Required documents are posted. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector.
The outdoor activity space for infant children was inspected and measured a total of 1800 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 24 children. The outdoor space is fenced and shade is provided by the use of a tree. Proper supervision and placement of staff outside was discussed to ensure the safety of children at all times.
Facility staff have a background clearance through SDCOE. Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. |
