25 | On October 18, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Van conducted an unannounced case management visit and met with the Principal/Site Director, Grace Andonian. The purpose of the inspection was explained, and the center’s security allowed LPA entry to the Center. The focus of today's case management visit is to assess and confirm the safety of the recently renovated outdoor play area to identify any potential hazards that could endanger the children's health and safety. Five staff supervised twenty-seven preschool children today.
The newly renovated outdoor play area is surrounded by soft, shock-absorbent padding to minimize the risk of injuries. It is completely fenced. At the center of the play area stands a large play structure that offers various activities, such as slides and climbing elements. The play structure indicated that it is appropriate for children between 2 and 5 years old. According to the Site Director, fresh water is always available in refillable bottles.
The center currently has a department approved outdoor waiver allowing 19 preschool children to play in the play yard at one time. However, the waiver needs to be updated to reflect that the preschool program is also sharing this outdoor play area with the Kindergarteners. The Site Director will provide the Licensing office with updated schedules for both the preschool and Kindergarten programs.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the lead teacher, Grace Andonian.
