On 10/2/2024 at approximately 10:30 a.m. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Zeynep Basak conducted an unannounced annual inspection and met with the director, Sara Garcia. The purpose of the inspection was explained to the director. The director verified the operation hours from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Upon entering LPA observed the director, 4 staff member supervising 19 children during the inspection. LPA checked the all-staff members name on Guardian website and found all names are eligible for clearance.

LPA reviewed the 4 staff record and 6 children records and found all required documents in the file

LPA observed the facility is operating within its capacity and complies with the staff/child ratio on this day. The director stated the facility use electronic sign in/out app called 1CoreFamily and LPA observed all present children were signed for today.
The facility has a license, and all other required postings are posted and visible to the public.

LPA observed the facility has smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in the classroom, and 2 fully charged fire extinguisher in size 2A10BC located in the classroom and the kitchen. Per the director facility conducts emergency drill every month and last drill was on 8/20/24.

LPA inspected 1 daycare room serving 2 groups of preschool children. One group is 24 months to 36 months and the other group 36 months to entry kindergarten. LPA observed the facility has age-appropriate furniture, education and play materials for children. LPA observed floor and rugs are clean in good repair and free of any hazards. All cleaning solutions and other chemicals dangerous to the children are stored in a locked storage and made inaccessible to the children.

LPA observed the facility has fully stocked first aid kit in the classroom and they have also had backpack which includes emergency supplies to take whenever they go to park.

LPA inspected the bathrooms and saw 2 toilet one urinal and 3 sinks, found them clean, sanitary, and in working condition. The water temperature was proper.

Per the director facility provides breakfast, lunch, and p.m. snack. LPA inspected the kitchen with the director and observed the kitchen is clean, all foods are stored properly to avoid contamination.

The facility has enough sleeping cots/mats and per the director children brought their sheets/blankets from home and every Fridays to be washed.

LPA checked the facility history and found the facility has waiver for outdoor play. LPA discussed the waiver with the director, Sara and Sara stated they are not using the outdoor as it is in the building, and they are getting complaint from the residents. Per the director they are taking children to Lafayette Park for outdoor play between 10:40 to 11:30 a.m. every day considering the weather condition. Sara added they take emergency backpack and individual water bottles during the outdoor play.

Per the director facility has only one kid who has allergy. LPA observed the EpiPen in its original box with the consent form, but it is just expired in September,2024. LPA reminded director they need to check it regularly to make sure they are updated and replaced with the proper one.

The Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption or transfer their existing clearance or exemption prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center.
