25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Marie Rodriguez conducted a scheduled follow up pre-licensing inspection and met with Applicant Zhen Zhen Li to discuss alternate outdoor play area ideas due to facility's lack of outdoor space within the location. The facility is requesting to conduct daily yoga and kung fu (tumbling classes) inside the facility for half of the classroom (12 children) while the other 12 children will take a walk around the neighborhood at the same time as part of the children's gross motor skill play. There is enough time for the children to transition from their yoga or kung fu class to go outside to walk around the neighborhood or walk to the designated Sergeant John Macaulay Park for outdoor play. The location is housed within California Pacific Medical Center's Van Ness campus. There is a constant security patrol around the building. There is also an SFPD police station within 0.5 miles of the facility in case of emergency. LPA inspected location to ensure facility had enough room to utilize the space for the yoga and kung fu classes.
Prior to LPA's inspection of the location, LPA conducted an inspection of Sergeant John Macaulay Park at the corner of Larkin Street and O'Farrell St which is 0.3 miles away from the facility. LPA observed park to be clean and free of debris. There are age appropriate toys for preschool children to use and enough room for children to run around and play. LPA observed that the play structure may be used for preschool children as long as the children did not climb the chain ladders to get onto the play structure since the chain ladders do not look age appropriate. There is a way for the children to get onto the structure without the use of the chain ladders to utilize the slide on the play structure as long as there is adequate supervision at the top of the play structure and at the bottom when in use by preschool children. LPA also observed a city worker sitting at the front of the park who would maintain the cleanliness of it.
Per LPA's inspection of the park and facility, LPA recommends approval of the use of the park and Applicant's request to have a yoga and kung fu class inside the classroom as ways for the children to work on their gross motor skills. Management will have final approval for licensure.
Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed by Applicant Zhen Zhen Li. Copy of report will be emailed to Applicant. |
