25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Christopher Jackson met with licensee Ruchira Dave for an unannounced random annual inspection and toured areas of the single-story home accessible to children in care. Off-limit areas include bedroom next to bathroom, laundry room, pantry and garage. The census included seven children in care ages 17 months, 17 months, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5, 2.5 and 3.5 years. Also present was licensee’s assistant during today's inspection. Licensee stated there are no new residents in the home since licensure. All Adult residents have criminal record clearances.
LPA observed CPR/First Aid certificates which expired on 6/23. LPA discussed licensing requirements, including the posting of licensing inspection notices and reports and Parent Notification Requirements. LPA reviewed three children’s files during today's inspection. LPA observed the file to be kept according to Title 22 regulations. LPA discussed the requirement for fire drills. LPA reminded licensee fire drills should be conducted at least once every six months and documented. LPA observed that there were no hazardous items accessible to children. LPA observed knives to be kept in an upper cupboard and out of reach of the children in care. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. LPA observed a fire extinguisher, and dual smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector that meet regulation. LPA did not observe any toys with broken or sharp edges during today's inspection. The backyard is fenced and gated. There is a wooden play structure in the back yard. LPA observed there were no broken boards or sharp objects coming off of the play structure. There were no bodies of water observed during today's inspection.
During the inspection LPA provided COVID-19 technical assistance to the licensee to incorporate Department of Public Health safety protocols for operating during the pandemic. LPA discussed posting requirements and facility operations including sanitation and pick up/drop off procedures.
