25 | Centralized Application Bureau (CAB) Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Alecia Sifuentes and Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) David Nguyen and Deborah Khashe met with Applicant Iris Valencia and Director Merary Picos for the purpose of a pre-licensing inspection. Applicant requests a preschool component to serve 57 preschool children from age two to entry into first grade. The program will operate Monday through Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The fire clearance was granted and received on 10/8/2024. Parents will provide breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon snacks.
LPA reviewed with applicant the LIC 311A, Records To Be Maintained At The Facility, for child’s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted.
INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
There are four preschool classrooms (Room #1, #2, #3A, and #3B). LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment, toys, tables, chairs, cubbies, and napping cots. There is a first aid kit in each of the restroom. Medications will be stored in the office and in the upper cabinet above the sink. LPA observed cleaning disinfectants are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Applicant stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. LPA observed water dispensers in each classroom. LPA observed a dual smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the classrooms. LPA observed a sign in/sign out binder.
LPA measured all four classrooms. The total classroom space contains a total of 2,101 square feet, which will accommodate Applicant's request for 57 preschool children. There are five toilets and eight sinks for the children (two sinks located in Room #1, one sink located in Room #3A, and five sinks/five toilets between Room #1 and Room #2). There is a separate private restroom for the staff located down the hall. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the office and will use the staff restroom, if necessary.
