25 | On 12/18/24, at 8:55 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Shane Loftus conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection of the Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Mayra Botello, Site Supervisor of the CCC, and explained the purpose and nature of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Site Supervisor, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC is located in a portable classroom on the grounds of Oceano Elementary School. The CCC operates from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday. LPA observed 9 children during the inspection along with three teachers providing care and supervision.
The classroom of the CCC is clean and orderly. The classroom has age-appropriate equipment and furnishings available to children in care. There are two bathrooms inside the classroom used by the children that are in clean and sanitary operating condition. LPA observed an operable refrigerator in the classroom which contained foods and beverages consumed by children in care. The CCC provides a morning snack for the children. Children have access to water inside the CCC and outside in the play area. Children also bring individual water bottles to the CCC.
CCCs constructed before 1/1/20, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before 1/1/23, and then every 5 years after the date of the first test. For CCC licenses issued after 7/1/22, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.
Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are stored and secured beneath the kitchen sink. Medications are stored in a locked box in an elevated, secured cabinet. Sharps are stored in the same cabinet and are inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed CCC Sign In/Out forms near the entry of the classroom. LPA notes Sign In/Out forms contain the children’s arrivals and departures as well as the signature of the authorized representatives. Continued on 809-C
