25 | On 8/21/24, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Elvin Baddley and Shane Fotfus contacted an unannounced Case Management inspection of the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC) to address the report of an Unusual Incident Report (UIR) received by the Department on 8/14/24. The UIR noted a teacher in care, herein S1, strike a child in care, herein, C1, during nap time at the CCC on 8/9/24. The incident was captured by the CCC’s Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV) and observed by 3 staff members. LPAs met with Miranda Aguilar, Administrator of the CCC, and Amber Villamor, Director of the CCC. LPAs observed 25 children on site, along with 6 teachers providing supervision.
LPAs, Administrator and the Director viewed video footage of the incident. Director noted C1 no longer attends the CCC. Further, Administrator and Director informed LPAs C1 sustained no injuries as a result of the incident. With respect to S1, Administrator and Director informed LPAs S1 was terminated from the CCC following the incident. The termination date for S1 was 8/13/24.
As the matter was referred to the Department in the form of a Complaint on 8/21/24, the disposition of the incident is contained in the Complaint Investigation Report (LIC 9099) generated on 8/21/24. LPAs will also be interviewing the associated teachers as well as the care giver of C1. |
