25 | On 3/17/25, at 10:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Sapien conducted an unannounced annual random inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Yadira Mendoza, Licensee of the FCCH, and explained the nature and purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The house is a 4-bedroom and 3-bathroom two story residence. The first floor of the house consists of 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. The second story of the home consists of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The areas that are accessible for day care children are as follows: entry way and dining room (converted main day care room), one guestroom (infant and toddler room), a portion of the backyard, and downstairs bathroom. The remainder of the home is excluded (front yard, laundry room, garage, main living room, kitchen, a backyard portion, and the entirety of upstairs which includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a loft area. Importantly to note, all areas that are off limits are made inaccessible by locks and child safety gates. At the time of the inspection, nine children were present, as well as one staff assistant and the Licensee's son (cleared and associated).
LPA observed the FCCH to be clean and orderly. The downstairs bathroom, which is adjacent to the infant and toddler room, is clean and free of toxins. Bathroom cabinets are made secure by child safety latches. LPA observed sharps, personal medication, and children's medication in elevated kitchen cabinets inaccessible to children in care. Moreover, cleaning compounds were observed in a locked kitchen cabinet beneath the sink. The kitchen area, like all of the other inaccessible areas, is made secure by a child safety gate.
LPA observed age-appropriate toys, furnishings, and equipment throughout the main day care room and infant and toddler room. In the infant and toddler room, LPA observed a diaper changing station and a sliding closet that solely contains childcare equipment. In addition to learning and play, Licensee informed LPA that breakfast, lunch, and nap time occurs in the main day care room. LPA also observed televisions in each of the two interior day care areas.
