25 | On 5/14/24, at 10:45 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Tala Romero, Site Supervisor of the CCC. LPA in the company of the Site Supervisor toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC is on the grounds of the Coast Union School District and operates from 8:00 AM to 4:15 PM, Monday - Friday. The CCC uses three classrooms (Classroom Room A- ages 4 years old, Classroom B- ages 3 years old and the Toddler Classroom- ages 2 years of old) for child care services. At the time of the inspection, LPA observed a total of 24 children on site along with six teacher. LPA notes Site Supervisor assist with the care and supervision of children on site.
LPA observed the CCC's classrooms to be clean and organized. LPA observed age appropriate toys, equipment and furnishings in each classroom. LPA observed carbon monoxide detectors in each classroom. At 11:41 AM, a carbon monoxide detector in the Toddler classroom was tested and found to be operable. LPA observed all restrooms used by children in care to be in safe and sanitary operating condition. An operable refrigerator is located in the CCC's office area. LPA observed the refrigerator to stores food items for children in care. Site Supervisor informed LPA meals are prepared on site. LPA notes the CCC provides children in care breakfast, lunch and snacks. LPA observed CCC menus in each classrooms. Children have available (filtered) water inside and outside of the classroom. CCCs constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.
LPA observed disinfectants, cleaning solutions and medications stored in locations (i.e. elevated cabinets, in office space) in classroom which are inaccessible to children in care. Sharps in the classrooms are located in secure locations near the teachers' desk.
