On 9/`19/2024 at 2:40 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) Gigi Reyes conducted an unannounced Required inspection at the above Family Childcare Home (FCCH). LPA met with Licensee Adela Vences discussed the purpose of the inspection. FCCH operates Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 5:30PM. Licensee provides cares for children 0-12 years old.

LPA and Licensee toured the inside and outside of the home. LPA observed 2 children present under the supervision of licensee and assistant/spouse. FCCH day care areas are the living room, dining room and the converted garage which is used for extra activities. Bathroom is free of toxins, sharps, cleaning compound are kept inaccessible to day care children. Age-appropriate toys, book, cots, playpen and equipment were observed in the home. Backyard is enclosed with hollow blocks fencing and it is divided into separate areas for children's play and for personal use. Fire extinguisher was last serviced on 12/6/2024. The combination carbon monoxide and smoke detectors were tested and found functional. Fire and disaster drill are conducted and documented every 3 months, last drill was conducted last 7/27/2024.

LPA reviewed the facility file and found that the Pediatric CPR and First Aid certificate is current with expiration date of 3/11/2025 while Mandated Reporter Training expires on 3/12/2025. Children’s files were reviewed and found complete. Licensee stated there are no guns or ammunition in the home. Licensee checks and documents napping infants every 15 minutes, licensee ensure that parents of infant 0-12 months old fill out the LInfant Safe Sleep Plan (LIC 9227)

Licensee, was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA also informed licensee, the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

The FCCH is not providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS). IMS policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

During the exit interview, the LICENSEE, Adela Vences confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS.

During today’s inspection, no deficiencies were cited under title 22 division 12 California Code of Regulations and Health and Safety Code.



A notice of site visit was given to Licensee and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
