25 | On 10/02/24, at 2:30 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Sapien conducted an unannounced Annual Random inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Porche Hill, Licensee of the FCCH, and explained the nature and purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The house is a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom two story apartment unit. The apartment's living room (converted play area/room), restroom, dining area, and outdoor patio are used for child care services, while the remainder of the FCCH is excluded (upstairs restroom and guest bedrooms). The upstairs portion of the FCCH is excluded via a secure child safety gate. At the time of the inspection, seven children were present, along with one staff assistant. In addition to day care services provided, Licensee informed LPA that Licensee provides overnight care.
LPA observed the FCCH to be clean and orderly. The downstairs bathroom, which is available for childcare services, is clean and free of toxins. LPAs observed cleaning compounds on an elevated shelf near the dining area which is out of reach of children. Sharps were positioned on top of the refrigerator, also out of reach of children. There are currently no medications being kept for children, however, should medication be needed it would be positioned in an elevated kitchen cabinet inaccessible to children in care.
LPA observed age-appropriate toys, furnishings, and equipment throughout the interior of the FCCH.
LPA observed licensing forms and documents posted prominently to a board at the entry of the living room. LPA also observed a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the dining area of the FCCH. The combination smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector was tested at 4:37 PM and found to be operational. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher in the FCCH which was last serviced on 9/3/24. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the FCCH's fire/disaster drill log. The most recent fire drill occurred on 8/12/24.
