25 | On 2/4/22, at 12:45PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Annual Continuation Inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA notes the FCCH was placed an increased inspection schedule on 11/5/20, for a period of two years as part of a Compliance
Plan.
LPA met with Maria Topete, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of Licensee toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The FCCH’s living room, family room, backyard and restroom are used for child care services, while upper story of the home is excluded from child care. LPA notes a child safety gate is observed at the base of the stairwell which serves as a barricade to the upper floor of the FCCH. At the time of the inspection, LPA observed five children (two biological) present.
Required forms are predominantly posted on the wall near the entry of the FCCH. The FCCH’s living room has a fireplace which is barricaded by a child safety gate which is inaccessible to children. The FCCH's restroom used for child care is observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors throughout the FCCH. A combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector affixed to the ceiling of the family room was tested at 1:20 PM and found to be operable. The FCCH has a regulation fire extinguisher on site which was service on 4/9/21. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. The FCCH maintains working telephone services.
The FCCH was observed to be clean and orderly. The FCCH has ventilation to afford for the children’s comfort. The FCCH was void of hazardous items. Medication in the home is stored in a cabinet in the kitchen as well as an upper stairs bathroom. Both areas where the medication is stored is inaccessible to children in care. Cleaning compounds are stored in a cabinet underneath the kitchen sink. The kitchen area is excluded from care and is barricaded by a child safety gate. Toys, furniture and equipment in the FCCH are age appropriate.
